Girls and Corpses

OMG! Okay so my husband comes home the other day from a Red Carpet event, that I unfortunately couldn't attend with him, but anyways I'm talking to him on the phone and he is at my mom's house. He is telling me about how his evening went and who he got to interview an what not. He starts telling me about this guy he met there named Corpsy, who told him all about his magazine called Girls and Corpses. Right then I heard my mom in the background shouting "You're gunna love it" all sarcastically. Then my mom went on to say that it was gunna give her nightmares. So now I'm thinking "Oh great some creepy, goth porno magazine!" Which is exactly what it ended up being...except I found myself not so much creeped out because of course, the corpses are fake, but it's actually surprised at what a pretty funny and interesting magazine it really is. More than anything I would say that it is different, which always gets my attention. It has mostly pictures of mostly hot normal looking girls scantily dressed surrounded by....and sometimes even humping? corpses. But then it has articles, comics (which are hilariously disturbing) and my favorite is Sex Talk with Doctor Necco Feelya!! Here is a question that was in the Volume 2 Spring Issue:

Dear Dr. Necco Feelya,

My boyfriend has a bug up his ass. Literally. I can't tell what kind of bug it is but it has been up there for months and only occasionally comes out to eat from the cat bowl. I'm afraid the thing will bite me in my sleep or crawl up MY ass. What should I do? Oh, did I mention he has been dead for two years. Not the bug; my boyfriend.

Signed,
Bug up his ass

Read the mag. for the answer! Now the best part of this magazine, that pretty much made me fall in love with it, was an add, on the very last page, for the Corpsy the love doll. OMG!! It is literally a blow up doll corpse. I laughed my ass off when I saw this...how genius! Wish I could have thought of it! Click on the pic. for more positions!
So this magazine is obviously not for the faint of heart but if you like something a little creepy, a little odd , and you're maybe into the whole death thing, then this would definitely be a magazine that you should really check out!

My new tattoo

Well, I finally did it. I got my second tattoo!

I had realized that I wanted to get one to commemorate the passing of my grandma last month while I was at her funeral. I just had to decide what and where I wanted to get it.
My grandma loved flowers, butterflies, gardening and the outdoors so I wanted to incorporate that theme into it some how. I started looking up butterfly tattoos and nothing really stood out. I have always been curious about how different people or religions deal with the passing of a loved one. My grandma was the first person who has been close to me that I have lost. It has been very confusing for me about how I should feel or act. As I have been dealing with this emptiness I have kept in mind different views and thoughts from authors I love to read like Eckhart Tolle and also from religions like Sikhism, who believe that death is not a sad occasion but as a time to celebrate and remember the person who has passed on. That reminded me very much of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) which is a holiday in which, mostly Latinos, celebrate the death of loved ones by having parties and visiting their graves, giving them gifts that include food and also sugar skulls which are decorated skulls that can be eaten. I have always thought that that tradition was very ego less and brave.

So there I had it, I would get a tattoo remembering my grandma using a sugar skull with butterfly wings, which she loved. I would also incorporate flowers to represent her 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Now I needed to find an artist.
We went to one place that we had heard very good reviews on, unfortunately, I was not happy or comfortable with the service at all. My husband had had a guy come into his work months before and he had given him his card, we decided to go in and feel him out.
His name is Bobby and he works at Inland Empire Tattoo in Redlands. We went in there and I gave him some drawings and pictures of what I had in mind. He told us to come back in a week and he would have something drawn up. I was so nervous that I would not like his concept that I was even having nightmares about it! So the next Thursday rolls around and he shows me his sketch and it is exactly what I had in mind. It was so beautiful and perfect, I couldn't wait to have it etched into my skin forever and ever!

So I did. It took about 3 hours and hurt pretty freaking badly...a lot worse than my first one on my wrist! But it's healing now and looking great. I know my grandma would have thought it was really pretty. Every time I look at it it will always remind me of her and how much she impacted my life and what an amazing person she was!

Here is my tat. this was like a few hours after I got it done...still bloody and all. I'll put up more when she's healed!

Crappity crap crap

Ehh, I have not blogged in such a long time it feels like. It has been very hectic and also very hot. I can barely concentrate on anything...today it's in the upper 90's, our air is broke and going to stay that way...I have been spritzing myself every few minutes to try and stay cool. I want to put up our pool but I am going to wait until we get back from our 1 year wedding anniversary get away to San Francisco. The weather up there is suppose to be very nice, maybe even a little chilly, according to my standards. I can't wait.

I just got over being sick with a disgusting cold complete with sore throat, stuffy head and nose, and now I'm finally gettin over it but I just can't make all this mucous go the hell away. I also, regrettably, had to fly to Wisconsin to my grandmothers funeral the last week of April. That was really hard and I still am not fully realizing that she is gone. Everything just kinda seems off and I have just not been feeling all here, which I'm not. But it's no good to dwell in the past and I've been trying to keep myself busy despite being sick off my ass. I had the perfect opportunity to read the most amazing book that I have had my hands on in a long while called "Coming of age in Mississippi" by Anne Moody. I recommend it to everyone especially women or younger girls. It's an inspiring and moving biography about a girl, Anne (Essie Mae) growing up in the deep south. She gives a play by play of her amazing life from her being a 4 year old girl to a brave 23 year old women overcoming obstacles that I could not even fathom. It's very well written, informative, exciting, sad and touching. It helped me keep my mind off my problems for 2 days but now I am right back on the sad boat trying to get a handle on myself, maybe San Fran will help chase away my blues...I doubt it though :(

My grandma loved butterflies and she would have really liked that print

Laid to Rest Premiere

So a few days ago Dave and I went to LA and got to take pictures for the website that he now works for Shockya.com it was the premiere of the horror movie Laid to Rest starring Bobbie Sue Luther. It was a pretty cool movie actually. The main character, the bad guy, was named Chrome Skull, pretty cool. I like his look...I like chrome...lol. But the event was really fun. We got to be the paparazzi kinda. A bunch of the actors from the Sarah Conner Chronicles showed up like Lena Headey, Brian Austin Green, and Thomas Dekker who is actually in Laid to Rest. That was pretty cool. So we just stood there with all the others and took pictures.

Here are a few of them...

Hollywood

So yay! Dave has had this new on the side job thing going on for about a month. He reviews movies, games, places, etc. for the website Shockya.com He has an absolute blast as he is such a movie buff. So now the fun part comes in for me! He gets to go to Hollywood premieres, red carpets events, and he gets 2 tickets-woo hoo, one for me! So yesterday was our first one, we drive down to Burbank first, which is about an hour and 10 min. away and we go to this amazingly awesome horror gift and book store called Dark Delicacies. It's so cool has tons of autographed books and posters from people like Clive Barker, Mike Mears, and all sorts of other great authors and actors. The owners suggest we go to this collectible store down the road called Blast from the Past and it's also amazing. Tons of movie and tv collectible figures. Dave yacked with the owner for about 45 min. and I realized that we were running late.

So we head down to Hollywood and see thousands of people outside of Mann's Chinese Theatre, where we were going! Yikes, there was a red carpet, media, everything. I was thinking it was for our event which was seeing the movie State of Play (very good btw, check it out on Friday-stars Russell Crowe, yum) so anyways I'm thinking "great this place is a mad house how are we gunna make it in time" (we were late cuz of Dave's "mouth") but it turns out all the commotion was for Zac Efrons movie "17 Again" Ewww! But other then that the trip was fun. I love Hollywood it has such an amazing blend of people and great energy...just a little too busy for me tho. But we will be going down there again on Saturday to screen the movie Laid to Rest. A horror movie! Yipes! And we'll hang out there all day and the weather is suppose to be very nice! Finally.
Here's all the crazies outside of Mann's.

Golden Gods Awards

Well last night kicked major ass! Actually all of yesterday was pretty sweet, I must admit. The day started out regular enough, going thru the motions, doing our early morning contract. We were listening to the x103.9 morning show when they announced they'd be giving away tickets to the Golden Gods Awards in LA for tonight. And lo and behold I dialed and Dave won! And when he picked up the tickets, the lady at the station gave him an extra one for my sister cuz her bday is coming up! So we were stoked.

We get there a little late and have no idea what to expect, the place is small and cozy. It's regularly a club-hence the name Club Nokia! But it was nice, we opted for seating over standing....as I am not a fan of standing for any long periods of time! So we get to sit on the balcony right over the stage-perfect view. The Awards are the first ever American awards for metal music, which my husband loves. I think it's alright-just a little too angry for me : ) So anyways, we have a perfect view of the stage and we are sooo close, as the place only holds about 2000 peeps.

It was hosted by Brian Posehn, the fat creepy guy from the Sarah Silverman Show. He was pretty hilarious making all sorts of very funny jokes-you'll have to watch it-the jokes at the beginning were great. So the show begins, and it's like most any awards show you've seen on tv, a famous person comes out and announces the award, the winner comes out and accepts it. Ozzy won a Lifetime Achievement Award! That was cool, the whole place went absolutely nuts! Then we got to see Maynard James Keenan from one of my fav. "metal" bands, Tool-A perfect Circle-Puscifer. He was saying that people need to start listening to their inner voice and let the creativity come out...it was pretty cool. Slipknot was there and got a few awards-Dave and I had just seen them in concert last month, it was quite awesome. Jonathan Davis from Korn was there, Scott Ian, Kat Von D, I'm not really into metal so a few times I was lost as to who was performing and what not. But overall it was an awesome time. It's gunna air on Mtv2 on April 25 so check it out. It was pretty entertaining even if you're not a metal head.

Now I may sound like a dick but I always bring earplugs to concerts, I value my hearing waaay too much to let any noise make me be hard of hearing by the time I'm 40. But there was the most amazing band that performed last night, called Suicide Silence, and they happen to be from one of my favorite cities, Riverside! Woop woop! So anyways, they all come out in suits, the singer is like skinnier than my sister, his legs are like the size of baseball bats and I'm thinking "OMG! This is gunna suck" But I was blown away, the energy of the whole band, and the singers voice, was out of this world! They played 3 songs, and I took my earplugs out cuz I needed to feel that as much as I could. As soon as I got home, I looked them up just so I could hear more. If you're feeling experimental look them up on Myspace. They are definitely the first hard metal band that actually has some soul, in my opinion. They were great and unforgettable, and by far the highlight of the night for me.

The show was great all in all, a few things that kinda sucked were that I was told that you could not bring cameras in, Dave wanted to anyway, but he listened to me and left it in the car. Turns out you could bring them in but he was told by security that he could not leave to go to the car and get the camera then come back in. So we got no pictures, which I very much regret. Second thing-I guess it didn't really suck, it was actually pretty funny and to be expected at a metal shows, but this blond chick in a mini jean skirt was grinding up on some dude, her skirt kept getting pulled up so you could see her panties, I was surprised she had some one, but it was just crazy. Then she showed her ass to the host and everyone else and the host is all "Oh nice, stripper asshole" it was extremely funny. Try and catch it sometime on Mtv2, April 25!

I thought this ring was pretty awesome. You can find it at GlamRockEmporium

Spring!!

Yay! I am so excited that Spring is finally here. I love the beginning of every season though, I must admit. Every one brings a sense of a new beginning with a knowledge of the old, tried and true which after 25 years on the planet I still find comforting! There hasn't been much rain this winter but luckily we've gotten some and also got the joy of a pretty scary spring rain storm on Saturday with huge gusts of wind and a few inches. But it really helped the wild flowers spring up even more. We went for a little hike at the park and got to see all the migrating butterflies, bees, tarantulas, wildflowers, and all sorts of other creepy crawlies.

Also with the start of Spring and new beginnings and ideas, I was suggested the great idea from the very sweet and talented, Rebekah from MrsBsAccessories, to maybe start making mini note cards that would be easy to sneak into your man's back pocket for a sweet surprise later in the day. So I took her up on her up on her idea and I am very happy with them. I was even able to come up with a couple new cards designs because of it. They are really fun and come with little handmade colorful envelopes.
